Each year SEMHIMA members select unique individuals to fill positions on the association Board. These individuals offer industry expertise stemming from their career experience, education, and enthusiasm. Theresa Crump, BS, RHIT President Theresa Crump has been employed with Henry Ford Health System for over 11 years. She is currently the Manager of the Health Information Management and Transcription Department at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan. She also been employed in the past at Oakwood Healthcare System and MPRO (Michigan Peer Review Organization) and has over 22 years experience in the HIM profession. She is a graduate of Ferris State University with a Bachelors in Health Information Administration and Schoolcraft College with an Associates in Health Information Technology. She is married to her husband, Charles and has one daughter, Jenna and her hobbies include reading, traveling, gardening and SHOPPING! Jody has been with Schoolcraft College since 1993. She has also worked in a variety of HIM technical and managerial roles for area hospitals including Providence Hospital in Southfield. Jody began her teaching career at Mercy College of Detroit in the early 1980s. Jody is a graduate of Mercy College of Detroit’s Medical Record Technology and Medical Record Administration programs and also holds a master’s degree in health services administration from Mercy College of Detroit (today, this is U of D-Mercy. Jody has been a member of AHIMA, MHIMA and SEMHIMA since 1979 and finds being visible and involved from a professional standpoint to be important. Her most recent role with SEMHIMA was that of Secretary with a term as Vice-President just prior. She is also working on the MHIMA Awards Committee and Annual Arrangements Committee for MHIMA’s annual meeting in 2012, On a personal side, Jody has been married to her husband David, for 32 years. Together they have two daughters, a new son-in-law and a variety of “grand pets”. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, doing yoga, listening to music and going to concerts, being involved with her church and relaxing at their cottage in northern Michigan. Kim Buti, BS, RHIA Past President Kim Buti currently works at the University of Michigan in Health Information Management. She has been with the University of Michigan over ten years and has had various positions. Kim currently works in the Medical Record Research and Review department and also helps in the Multiple Registration Number Combination department. She received her Associates Degree in Health Information Technology from Schoolcraft College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Allied Health Management from Madonna University. Kim has been a member of AHIMA, MHIMA, and SEMHIMA since 1994 and has been volunteering for the association since she became a member. In her spare time, Kim enjoys reading, scrapbooking and sewing. Leslie Carroll, BHSA, RHIT Secretary Leslie Carroll currently works at Accretive Health as one of the Billing Managers. She has previously worked for Henry Ford Health System and Beaumont. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services Administration from Baker College, and her RHIT from AHIMA. Leslie is a member of AHIMA, MHIMA and SEMHIMA for more than 25 years. Leslie is also on the HIT Board at both Baker College, Clinton Township and Macomb Community College. Tammy Anderson, BS, RHIT, CEMC Treasurer Tammy has been a full-time employee, for the past six years, at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. She works as a Quality Coding Auditor, where she provides education to physicians and health care providers throughout the health system. Some past positions include working as a Coding Consultant for HP3 and QuadraMed, as well as the University of Michigan Health System. Tammy is a Schoolcraft College graduate of the HIM program and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion from Spring Arbor University. This will be Tammy’s second term as Treasurer and she is looking forward to working with the new Board of Directors and all SEMHIMA members. Tammy serves as President of her condominium association and when time allows, enjoys traveling, shopping, Tiger baseball and Red Wing hockey. Cindy Nicholas, MSA, RHIA, CPHQ, CRIS, CHC Vice President Cindy is the Executive Director of Health Information Services & Revenue Integrity at the Detroit Medical Center employed by Anthelio Healthcare Solution. With over 25 years of experience in the HIM field, quality and compliance have been her area of focus. Kristen Ambrosiewicz, BS, RHIT Director Kristen is the current director of HIM Anthelio Healthcare Solutions Inc. at Children’s Hospital of MI-DMC. Kristen previously held the Operations Manager and Patient Identity Management coordinator position at the DMC. Kristen is a Schoolcraft College graduate of the HIM program and has a Bachelor’s of Science degree. She is the 2009 Yvonne Harbert Student Achievement Award recipient from MHIMA.
