Each year SEMHIMA members select unique individuals to fill positions on the association Board. These individuals offer industry expertise stemming from their career experience, education, and enthusiasm.
Mary Mills, RHIT, CCS
President
Mary Mills is currently President and CEO of Documentation Solutions, LLC with over twenty years experience in the healthcare profession as a coding quality and diagnostic-related group (DRG) specialist. Ten years experience as a coding quality auditor, physician documentation improvement specialist, coding compliance consultant, case mix index (CMI) manager, educator, and business owner.
Mary has implemented several successful Clinical Documentation Improvement Programs for healthcare delivery systems in Michigan, Colorado, Minnesota, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. She has been on the coding panel of experts for Advance Magazine since 2001, and is the author of several books and publications. Mary is also an advocate for coders nationwide.
Mary is also an active member of AHIMA, MHIMA and SEMHIMA and has been a speaker for AHIMA and SEMHIMA.

Kim Buti, BS, RHIA
President Elect
Kim Buti currently works at the University of Michigan in Health Information Management. She has been there eight years and works in the Medical Record Research and Review department and also helps in the Multiple Registration Number Combination department. She received her Associates Degree in Health Information Technology from Schoolcraft College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Allied Health Management from Madonna University.
In her spare time, Kim enjoys reading, scrapbooking and sewing.
Melody Czapski, RHIT, CCS-P, CHCC
Past President
Melody Czapski is currently with Beaumont Hospitals. She has been there for the past eight years and is currently in the Corporate Compliance Office as Manager Audits

Tammy Anderson,BS, RHIT,CEMC
Treasurer
Tammy Anderson is a 1991 graduate of Schoolcraft College and has enjoyed working in the HIM field for the past 18 years. Tammy currently works in the Tax & Audit department at Henry Ford Health System, performing documentation quality reviews for professional fee services.
In her spare time, Tammy enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, Red Wings hockey and her Beagle, Max.
Jody Scheller, MS, RHIA
Vice President
Jody Scheller is a full-time professor in Schoolcraft College's Health Information Technology, Coding, and Medical Transcription Programs based at the Radcliff Center in Garden City. She joined the faculty at Schoolcraft in 1993. Before that time Jody worked for Detroit area hospitals including Mt. Carmel, Detroit Memorial and Providence. Jody received her degrees from Mercy College of Detroit. Mercy is also where she began her teaching career. She notes how much the field of HIM has changed over the years and how the world of education must evolve as well. Jody has fun learning innovative teaching strategies and how to employ technology in the classroom, labs and online.
Jody and Dave, her husband of 30 years, have two adult daughters and spend a lot of time in northern Michigan in Oscoda where they have a place on Van Etten Lake. Jody also enjoys doing yoga, reading and music.
Catherine Gray,RHIT,CCS,CPC
Director
Catherine Grey is currently working as a Medical Services Auditor at Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) in the Audit, Compliance and Tax Services department where she performs chart reviews for physician coding compliance. Cathy has been in this position for more than 5 years. She previously worked at Henry Ford in the Professional Fee Audit department and in the Radiology department for a total of 10+ years at HFHS. She also worked as a physician coder at University of Michigan Medical Center and as a traveling coding consultant. The most interesting places that Cathy has visited for work include: Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Anchorage.
Cathy’s interests include travel, gardening, crocheting, needlework, and genealogy research.
